Teachers' Day is celebrated on 5th September to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was a renowned scholar, recipient of Bharat Ratna, first Vice- President, and second President of independent India. He was born on 5 September, 1888. As an educationist, he was a distinguished envoy, academician, and above all a great teacher. Even our Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes that “Teaching is not a profession but a way of life” “Jeevan Dharm” and asked teachers to understand changes happening across the world so that they can prepare the new generation to face them. He also said that India should regain the status of ‘Vishwaguru’ (leader in education) by giving high respect to teachers whom he asked to encourage students to think critically about issues concerning the world.






 For the first time the teacher's Day has been celebrated under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, by organising a cultural event by teachers at district level under the DPCs to motivate the teaching staff working under Samagra Shiksha and provide an opportunity to them to interact with each other and showcase their talent in the form of cultural activities performed by them.      





 It is pertinent to mention here that the teachers working under Samagra Shiksha (teachers of KGBVs, IED, Vocational Teachers, Part Time Instructors, BRPs, ABRCs, Educational Volunteers for OoSC, etc.) never availed this opportunity before.
